RiverDeep is a Rock Worship group dedicated to connecting this generation to God. Hungry to make a difference in the 'here and now', we know that only time in the presence of God can make that difference.
With worship as a gateway into the presence of God, RiverDeep aims to make that gateway as wide and accessible as possible. Firstly as a shop window for anyone to see hear and feel the presence of God. Secondly not as a one off event, but as lifestyle, where God equips us for everything life throws at us - Worship for life.
As a band we see that the power of God is released when we raise the name of Jesus above everything in heaven and earth.
In God's presence the impossible is not only possible but expected.
RiverDeep is Sam Warren, Matt Warren, Joe Warren, Peter Watson, and Esther Ellis (3 brothers, one sister, and a cousin by the Holy bond of marriage!)
As pastors kids, RiverDeep grew up under the protective umbrella of the church, and over the years have come to see the importance of the 'local' church. A place to be loved, fed, covered and held accountable, qualities we all need to live a successful kingdom-based life.
RiverDeep formed in 1995 when brothers Sam and Matt 'heard the call': To form a band committed to the great commission.
However, over the years the way we have gone about this has changed dramatically. Our first plan of attack was to 'drip-feed' God into the audiences we played to. For years our musical style changed but our overall method didn't, we wanted to tell people about God but not in an 'in your face' manner. Four years ago, as life blessed us with marriage, children, and greater church commitment, our time became more and more important; we took a long hard look at what we were doing and asked: How truly effective are these one off outreach events we play at? and how effective are we being with the time God has given us?
We had to conclude that our methods although being honourable, and not altogether ineffective, were however not achieving the results that our efforts deserved. We threw ourselves into our local church (New Life Christian Church Emsworth), an environment where many people are not only saved, but also mentored into spiritual maturity.
Over this time our song writing has developed to fill the worship needs of our local church and Youth Church, if a song doesn't work in church then it gets shelved.
Our up-coming album yet to be named is a collection of these songs, tried and tested in the fires of the New Life worship arena.
Our hopes for the future – to carry on as God's co-workers, and write worship songs that act as a gateway through which everyone can enter into God's life – real life.
